Lisa Fenwick

“We just finished our first month of camp. This has to be one of the best decisions I’ve made for my child. I’ve seen some improvement in his skills, but the biggest change I’ve seen has been in his confidence. He’s living more in the present and focusing more on what he’s doing (especially when home practicing)! My child is also doing the Mental Training and Nutrition class, both very informative. I can’t even begin to describe Coach Jack’s Mental Training Class, it’s mind blowing how a 10 year old can can retain his speeches and what he teaches. To see my son put some of these skills into Basketball and home life puts the biggest smile on my face. Coach Shea’s Nutrition Class has even opened my sons eyes to drinking more water and the healthy fats/proteins/carbs in his body. Thank you Coach Jack and your whole Coaching Team!”

Jennifer Gunn

“We are SO happy with the progress our son has made through CTG. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable but more importantly, they CARE about the kids and want to see them succeed! They make learning fun with the 3v3 camps by incorporating playing time with lessons. I can’t say enough good things about CTG, we will continue to enroll!”

Nikki Wollin

“My 7 year old participated in this camp for 9 weeks over the summer and has grown so much! She has learned so many basic fundamentals and has developed the drive for defense. The coaches did a great job of making the camp both informative as well as fun for the kids. They did as much coaching as teaching to the kids! They do a great job of helping the kids to work together as a team, but also make sure each of the kids gets a little one on one attention while doing their drills. Highly recommend their camps!”

Regina Holmberg

“Close The Gate Hoops is a wonderful local organization to help develop youth both in the game of basketball and in every day mind-set and personal growth. The coaches interact great with the kids and make their trainings fun yet challenging. I have two sons who train with Coach Jack and Coach Aaron and they have learned valuable basketball skills to contribute as a player and teammate. Highly recommend Close The Gate Hoops!!!”

Lindsey Chrostowski

“10/10 Hands down best training whether your child is a beginner or advanced high schooler. Great coaches, super motivating! Doing such great things!!”

Briana Leader

“My daughter absolutely loved Coach Shea’s sessions! Shea’s volleyball knowledge and talent translated well into her direction and feedback on the court. She gave feedback on nearly every touch and used drills that really helped my daughter make necessary changes and improvements to her game. In just 5 short weeks with Shea, she saw great improvements and has so much excitement and drive for the season ahead!”

Chelsea Shana

“Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, Value My son has learned more from the summer basketball camp than he has at any other program. They not only teach him the skills for on the court, but also really important life skills. He has been so motivated to get out and practice every day. I highly recommend this program for any skill level. The coaches should be very proud of themselves.”

Sophia Davis

“My daughter had a great time at the winter camp. She really enjoyed being able to learn new skills and strategies in a smaller group setting, which she found really helpful. It allowed her to get more practice time and focused coaching. She loved the camp and will definitely be back! Highly recommend to any volleyball players wanting to improve their skills, she had a great time!”

Holtz Family

“My son just started working with Close the Gate Hoops, Jack and his coaching staff are amazing. The 3v3 defense camp has been awesome. Close the Gate teaches more than just basketball and provides tools for the youth to be an overall great basketball player.”

Charity Zach

“My daughter really loved working with coach Shea during her 5 week summer sessions! We’re so glad we found out about CTG volleyball! Keep up the great work!”

Erin Springstead

“CTG has offered not only quality instruction for my boys, but also the opportunity to develop their confidence as players and people. Meeting kids from other communities and sharing their excitement for the game has been such a positive experience!”

Melissa Tourangeau

“CTG coaches did an excellent job running this class. I was a little hesitant to sign my son up at the beginning of the summer because of the cost for all three camps, but I’m so glad I did. Seeing the improvement, it was definitely worth it!”

Sheena Hanson

“Excellent! What stands out about CTG is how comprehensive of a program it is. Leadership and coaches are dedicated and outstanding with the kids. You get what you pay for and this is a premium program.”

Basketball

Coach Kate

Kate Huml (Coach Kate) is officially in her 3rd year of training with CTG. She is the daughter of CTG hoops founder Tony Huml, and sister of former CTG owner and CEO, Jack Huml. She has been playing basketball for as long as she can remember. Her goal this summer is to continue helping the students of CTG improve their basketball skills and have an impact on their overall lives outside of sports.

Kate currently plays on the UW Oshkosh women’s basketball team. She is studying to get a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology hoping to use it at Limitless Performance in the future. Through her own personal training at CTG, she has been able to excel on the court and in the classroom.

“My favorite part about being a CTG coach is seeing the students achievements and improvement over the summers. It has been so fun creating friendships and relationships with the kids we train and playing a part in helping them be successful. I am excited to get back in the gym this summer with all our students and expand the horizons for Close the Gate and Limitless Performance.”

Coach Joe

Joseph Stried, also known as Coach Joe, is a member of the Limitless Performance team, contributing both as a basketball trainer and a member of the marketing team. With over three years of experience in basketball training at Limitless Performance, coach Joe continues to grow his skills everyday.

Coach Joe is currently a freshmen studying marketing at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and is also on the baseball team. Coach Jack was Joe’s basketball trainer for several years in high school. However, Joseph’s journey into becoming a basketball trainer started after facing a stress fracture in his back during high school that temporarily halted his own playing career. He still wanted to be around basketball so he began as a trainer.

Coach Joe is passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of kids, and believes in fostering not only basketball skills but also creating lifelong connections. His goal in training is to make sure the kids are learning new skills while still having fun and meeting new friends. In Coach Joe’s own words,

“I love working with kids, that is why CTG is perfect for me. I can make connections with people through the sport that I love. Coach Jack has made such an impact on my life on and off the court. Once I had the opportunity to go full circle and train my own CTG kids, it was a no-brainer.”

Coach Keagan

Keagan Clark, professionally known as Coach Keags, boasts a lifelong dedication to basketball. With over three years of experience under the mentorship of Coach Jack, including participation in numerous summer and winter camps hosted by the now-renowned CTG, Keagan has cultivated an enthusiastic approach to training athletes across all age groups. His journey as a former varsity basketball player, WIAA-certified referee, and current assistant varsity coach scores his commitment to fostering excellence and instilling a holistic mindset in young athletes. Currently pursuing a business degree at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Coach Keags is committed to his mission to serve as a positive role model for youth while continuing his growth alongside esteemed mentors Jack Huml and Brad Fitzke.

“We believe in a growth mindset that pushes our kids into developing into better individuals. Not every kid can excel and succeed in everything they do, kids will fail at something, it’s how they respond to adversity and how they persevere through failure.”

Coach Jackson

Jackson Bertagnoli is known as Coach Jackson at our camps.

“Basketball has been a huge part of who I am ever since I was about 4 years old. I have been working with now-renowned CTG for almost a year now, but have been doing CTG camps ever since I can remember. CTG coaches and former coaches are a massive part of my success in basketball, stemming to my roots of learning how to shoot and dribble. I am now a former three year varsity basketball player and a WIAA certified referee. I plan on playing basketball at the collegiate level next year at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. I look forward to teaching and pushing each kid to be the best version of themselves not just on the court but off the court as well. I am extremely excited to work alongside Jack Huml and Brad Fitzke and keep learning along the way!”

Coach Madi

Madi Zych, also known as Coach Madi, is currently a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Dubuque, Iowa. She is earning degrees in Biology and Philosophy. Madi hopes to bring this energy into coaching this summer and into her future vocation of cancer research. Right now, she is a part of the CREATE research program studying microplastics prevalent in the Mississippi river. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family including her 4 younger siblings and reading a large variety of books. Madi has played volleyball for 7 years and has coached all ages of volleyball for 5 years in a wide variety of programs.

“I am very excited to be a part of a program that is still in the building stages! I hope to form similar meaningful connections with the athletes at Limitless Performance.”

Coach Luke

Luke Minard, often referred to as Coach Luke, grew his passion for volleyball from his two sisters, Avery and Morgan, after being told by his mother to play with his sisters and hasn’t looked back since. Luke’s volleyball philosophy is that of a “play smarter, not harder” approach, holding firm in the belief that any player, regardless of size, can be successful at any position on the court.

Coach Luke is currently attending the University of California Irvine in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in business administration with aspirations of attending law school after his completion of the undergraduate program. He spends his free time playing as much beach volleyball as possible, watching college and international volleyball, and completing school work. Coach Luke has a strong belief in adopting styles of play from around the world to create a well-rounded player.

Coach Luke’s goal is simply to create opportunities to train volleyball locally in Janesville that he wished he had when he began learning the game.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the game and community that has given me so much over the years, especially locally here in Janesville. Volleyball is a constantly evolving game and we need to continue to evolve with it.”

Coach Jack

Jack Huml, affectionately known as Coach Jack, was the past owner of CTG, it’s training and camps now being Limitless Performance. Inheriting his passion and expertise from his father and best friend, Tony Huml, Jack is dedicated to continuing his father’s legacy in basketball development and personal development outside of the sport. With a philosophy that intertwines basketball skills with life’s wisdom, Jack’s approach to training is unmatched in its holistic focus on player and personal growth. Under his leadership, CTG has seen exponential growth, evidenced by its expanding hundreds of thousands of social media followers, thousands of podcast downloads, and hundreds of 5 star family reviews.

Coach Jack has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin Platteville and was on the Pioneer basketball team. He spends most of his time building his sports psychology curriculum, as it’s how he trains himself in his own life. This means lots of time spent reading and learning from people much smarter than himself. His reading stems from Eastern philosophical meditations/ mental training tools paired with the logic and wisdom from ancient philosophy. He then puts all of this together by backing his findings through scientifically supported evidence.

Coach Jack’s mission is simply to synthesize all this incalculable value into something modern, normal, everyday busy people can implement to see amazing transformations in their own lives.

“Others have certainly tried to accomplish what I am aiming for. However, this hasn’t been centered around the youth and sports world yet. I am a firm believer that there can be a better way to educate and give youth/ parents a better foundation for finding their OWN answers. It’s not about me projecting my beliefs onto you. I don’t believe I have the answers. I actually believe I know very little. The more you learn, the more you realize how complex this enormous world is. I do, however, have a great grasp on the different tools that have been used over the last 2,500 years to lower suffering, build compassion towards others, and increase performance in all areas of life. My curriculum is based on a holistic approach of showing you what has worked throughout the human existence of training the mind. That’s it. This isn’t a curriculum that says it has the answers, it’s a curriculum based around helping you find YOUR answers.”
